This book is a great collection of useful information about South Carolina waterways. The book is based on the assumption that you know where you want to go and that all of your trips are one way. That is not wrong, but I am not sure that reflects most paddlers. If you are going to plan all one-way trips, then at least point out businesses/groups that may provide a pickup and return to the starting pint. I would have appreciated some recommendations or an order of merit based on the authors experience or even groupings of routes by some criteria. I would have appreciated feedback as to whether it was reasonable or worthwhile to do a route that returns to the put it site.
This is probably the most comprehensive guide to SC rivers that I've found to date. It doesn't provide a wealth of information on each river section, but it has far more put ins and take outs than the other guides I've used. If you're looking to get off the most common parts of SC rivers, I highly recommend this guide to get you started!
I love how detailed this book is. ramp by ramp descriptions are fantastic. Best part is the ramp/carry/parking descriptions so there are no unpleasant surprises. my kayaks are very heavy and I don't want to have to carry them a long way to the put-in. and with this book...I can just avoid those places.
I found the descriptions to be just what I like in a canoeing guide book - brief, concise but enough detail to give what is needed. I recently spent three days paddling 45 miles of the Edisto main stem and found the details and directions for access points to be "right on". The book's brief description of the river and paddling conditions were just what we found. I read descriptions of other SC rivers I have paddled and found the book's descriptions of these rivers to match what I remember.
This is exactly what I was looking for something to detail the put-in and take-out points along the rivers in SC. Incredible detail. Nice work.
Great book for the serious kayaker. More detail than I needed, but great information for the pro.
Absolutly love this book. Has everything that I needed to go anywhere I want.
gives most of the info i was looking for would be great if it put normal float times between points
