Who wouldn't want daily time with Zig Ziglar? I have had mine for several years and each day I get something new each day although I have had it that long. It sits on my desk - the leather has held up well with no noticed wear. Content is magnificent. Perfect for a gift or keep for yourself.

I don't normally get these daily devotionals. I like to read a lot and sometimes something inspirational helps. So, since I spotted this on the Kindle freebie list I said "Why not?" I have read a few days of these devotionals and I must say that they are good. Not only do they offer scripture to you, but they give details and some reading to go along with them. At the end you are left with some questions to help you ponder or learn or apply what you just read. It is well written and easy to follow. The dates are on each one with a table of contents to let you jump right to whatever time of year it is. They aren't too long or too short. I often find that many devotionals end up taking quite a long time to read or others take like a few seconds and I don't even remember what I read. So, this is a good one (so far), and I would recommend.

This is a great book for someone who is trying to discover more about their spirituality or faith. In the past I found myself intimidated by books weighted so heavily on scripture. This book gives a verse, explains the story behind it so you can better understand it and then asks you to look inward at your own heart and life and how you can be better in all areas. It bounces around to all kinds of topics, like family, friends, service to others and even stress management and how to balance doing what you enjoy with doing what you are obligated to do. Each day is numbered so you can start any time of year and each daily lesson isn't overly long so you can always get caught back up should you skip a few days! I highly recommend it!

It is to this realization that their study of Tolkien’s great gift affords the reader a glimpse.

"The Lure of the Ring" takes un a deep dive into the nature of Sauron, the Dark Lord, and, even more importantly, the nature of Tolkien's most enigmatic and intriguing character, Tom Bombadil, the only living being who is immune to to the addictive call of the One Ring. We come up from the dive with pearls about our own nature; how we are seduced by our injuries into a desperate and doomed attempt to protect ourselves by exerting power over others; how we can be free of this 'lure' and live lives of greater wisdom, joy, and dynamic community with others and with the world.Strachan and Coster have done a brilliant job of articulating and following the threads of both of these paths. The issues they address are timeless and urgent, and their use of Tolkien's mythological world makes the exploration all the more fun. Don't miss it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I especially resonate with the teaching about the simplicity and wisdom of the true self -- in contrast to the many fancier alternatives -- fear-fueled and power-seeking. For those who have interiorized the Tolkien fantasy-world there will be a deep sense of resonance and self-revelation in the way the authors retell and interpret the story. It's a beautiful book -- a real milestone.

Made me see Tolkien in a whole new light. This book explores beloved characters like Tom Bombadil, Gandalf and Sauron through the lens of psychospiritual development, showing their place on the spectrum from attachment to transcendence by the ways they interact with the One Ring, the symbol of ultimate power. If you love the godfather of modern fantasy, definitely check it out!
