Love the pictures. As for the calendar, I don't know what happened, but I totally missed something. This is not good for a calendar. Look carefully so you know what you are getting. I don't know if I can explain this but here it goes (it is weird)....It simply has the numbers for the month (1-30/31) and under each number what day of the week using only the first letter. Such as 1, and then under it W...meaning Wednesday the 1st. This is all written in a horizontal line at the bottom of the picture for that month. So the font type is like 14 or something.As a calendar, it is a one-star for me. Enjoyed the movie posters; they were great.

This is kinda a calendar kinda not. It has the dates and weekdays at the bottom in a single line not like a whole space. So you can not write down any important dates, or times etc. I use a personal planner for school and dates and I also set reminders on my phone. So I really just wanted a calendar to make my wall where my desk it not so bare. It does provide with lots of posters though. I will provide pictures of what I mean with the dates and what not.USEFUL TIP: If purchasing this, consider getting a personal planner and/or using an app or a reminder.

Beautiful Calender with nice quality pages. The only drawback, and I didn't notice it, is the actual calendar. It's teeny tiny and you just can't write any appointments on it.

The pictures are very good and it is the only reason I give it three stars. As far as a calendar it is not all that useful. The calendar part is very small and is not in your usual "calendar" format with squares for the dates. It is simply listed in a number line with days of the week. There is no room for writing anything on this calendar. It is best used for a monthly wall art.

Bought this for my daughter for Christmas and she loved it. She is a big Harry Potter Fan and I recall asking her if she was too old now for Harry Potter gifts since she is now 19 and she said she will Never be too Old for Harry Potter Gifts. and in Fact she expects Harry Potter Shot Glasses for her 21st birthday! If you have a Harry Potter Fan this is a great gift to get them!

This is NOT a calendar! Very disappointed. This ended up being a Santa Fail this year for my 12 yr old daughter. I didn't open it from the protective wrapper to look at it. Just a tiny printed calendar at the very bottom of the posters. Had to reorder. She wanted something she could write in the boxes on.

Yup. just a bunch of posters. NOT a calendar. As the previous review indicated, no calendar boxes. I wish I had seen that review before I bought. That said, my daughter will probably love her gift since she wanted posters too. I will have to get her another calendar though.

I love the pictures, they are fantastic. I didn't realize that there weren't calendar days, like traditional boxes where you can write appointments and stuff. It just has a line at the bottom of the picture that has the day of the weeks above the numbered day. A disappointment for me, as I actually utilize my calendars.

Theodore Roosevelt has been one of my favorite historical figures for almost my entire adult life. As someone who has a hard time narrowing down my own interests (let alone reading list), the breadth and depth of his pursuits is both fascinating and reassuring. As someone who enjoys being outside in wild spaces, his efforts in preserving them has been inspiring.He’s also one of the most intellectually challenging figures for me. Without delving too far into politics, I generally prefer the federal government to cast a smaller shadow in the average American’s life than is generally the case. TR’s progressive vision and use of the “bully pulpit” therefore give me pause, force me to reflect, and often leave me scratching my head and short of answers. However, one area where his inclinations and my beliefs intersect is in the preservation of the commons and protection of public lands.This is the central theme of Douglas Brinkley’s Wilderness Warrior. Calling it a biography of Roosevelt, while technically accurate, sells it short. Yes, you’ll read about his somewhat sickly youth. You’ll read about his time at Harvard (and see pictures of the pretty epic sideburns he wore in his early adulthood). You’ll read about the Rough Riders and his time as a rancher. But all of this revolves around the central theme of the fondness he developed early in life, thanks in part to his Uncle Robert, for nature – and the efforts he made as governor and president on its behalf.Brinkley is a professor at Rice University, author of almost two dozen books, and member of the Council on Foreign Affairs (which is to say, he certainly doesn’t need my review to sell his book – and not just because it’s been out for almost a decade). Among his other awards, this book earned the 2009 National Outdoor Book Award.Not surprisingly, then, the book is thoroughly researched and richly annotated. If you’re anything like me, its notes section will make your “want to read list” have a bit of a growth spurt. It takes short detours to explore the lives and exploits of people who lived where the rubber of TR’s initiatives met the proverbial road. While those detours add a bit to the work’s heft, I felt it placed this focused biography – this exploration of but one aspect of a larger-than-life man’s multi-faceted personality – in a broader and richer context.If there’s a downside to the book, it’s that its length and detail might make it less than accessible to a casual reader. While I’m enough of a bibliophile and history geek to have thoroughly enjoyed it, I have to admit that it’s not quite the sort of history or biography that feels more like a story. It doesn’t always move fast, and the sheer amount of information packed into it can make it at times a slightly dense read. But the reader sufficiently interested in Theodore Roosevelt, protection of wild spaces, or both, will be richly rewarded for their time.

The Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America, 1858-1919 is a biography of Theodore Roosevelt that concentrates strictly on his conservationist side. Other domestic policy and foreign policy occasionally come into play, but only when it's connected to conservation policy. It is a long book, repetitive on occasion, but very readable and engaging.“We regard Attic temples and Roman triumphal arches and Gothic cathedrals as of priceless value,” Roosevelt decreed, full of wilderness warrior fury. “But we are, as a whole, still in that low state of civilization where we do not understand that it is also vandalism wantonly to destroy or to permit the destruction of what is beautiful in nature, whether it be a cliff, a forest, or a species of mammal or bird. Here in the United States we turn our rivers and streams into sewers and dumping-grounds, we pollute the air, we destroy forests, and exterminate fishes, birds, and mammals—not to speak of vulgarizing charming landscapes with hideous advertisements.”From childhood to adult, Brinkley covers what made Roosevelt a conservationist and sets the stage for what he was to do as a public servant and politician; you really get an idea of what made Roosevelt the unique personality he was. He then explains in detail not only what Roosevelt did but how and why; you couldn't get a much better explanation of his conservation policy. Brinkley ties in the personalities from all walks of life who helped shape and execute his policies as well. Unfortunately, the book seems to end abruptly; Brinkley writes about Roosevelts plans post-Presidency but doesn't go into them in the same detail that he did everything else. Don't think, however, that this book is a hagiography. Brinkley takes care to point out the contrast between Roosevelt's conservationism and some, but not all, of his hunting and between his conservationist policy and reclamation policy. Granted, this would have made an already long book even longer, perhaps a second volume would have been in order. The book is well researched and documented, with good maps, annexes, and end notes; the maps, however, would have served better in-line with the relevant text. They very well may have been in the print edition, but I was reading the Kindle version and the maps came after the final chapter."As forces of globalization run amok, Roosevelt’s stout resoluteness to protect our environment is a strong reminder of our national wilderness heritage, as well as an increasingly urgent call to arms."Published in 2009, The Wilderness Warrior is somewhat prescient given the environmental policies of the current administration. Many times as I was reading I found myself asking what Roosevelt would think of President Trump. In the area of environmental policy, there's no doubt that Roosevelt would find our current policies and administration wanting.I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Wilderness Warrior and learned quite a bit from it. If you're interested in nature and wildlife conservation and the origins of the forest service, our national parks and monuments, and our wildlife refuges, this book is a great place to start. If you're at all interested in what made our 26th President tick, this is a good book to read.

Although this book is nominally about Theodore Roosevelt, it really is a history of the progressive conservation movement during Roosevelt's presidency. Short biographies of several of the key players are included, including Muir, Pinchot, Lahey, and others. The author has done a tremendous amount of research of that era and includes lots of details. The author's prose sometimes seems to get a little too dramatic and grandiose, but the story he is telling of one of the best stories in American history. If you are interesting in how the Forest service came to be, why we now have a Grand Canyon National Park, and several others as well, then read this book.. I highly recommend it.

This biography is along the lines of a David McCullough biography (large book, but very enjoyable read). This biography of T.R. is focused on his conservationism, but that appeals to me as someone in the environmental industry. I can't say I love the tales of hunting, but it was T.R.'s love of hunting that actually helped lead him to conservation. As someone who takes an annual vacation to a national park, I have found some interesting tidbits of information in the book that I also learned from visiting a park. Reading about T.R. and his conservation partners makes me eager to see more of our beautiful country. It also saddens me because we are clearly failing in some of our conservation efforts today. But I can totally appreciate that T.R. felt the need to travel and experience the outdoors to rejuvenate his body and soul. Great read, but it will make you long for your next vacation!

I've bought Garfield books since I was a kid. They've been amusing but not hilarious. This book is no different. It's a fun way to pass a few minutes but little more than that. Kids will enjoy it far more than an adult will, obviously. For the grownups, its best feature is the nostalgia you feel while reading about why Garfield hates Mondays, loves lasagna, and likes to bully Odie. A worthwhile purchase but nothing particularly special.

The "Garfield Eats and Runs: His 65th Book" has been received. We purchased two copies - one for us and one as a gift. My husband enjoys these books immensely and is delighted to add this one to his collection. A second was purchased for our daughter as a Christmas gift. She greatly enjoys the Garfield books and will love receiving this new addition to her collection of Garfield books.

I've been following Garfield since he came out - I have first printings of all 65. I won't say how old I was when this first came out but I was in High School - he's been part of my life for years, and hope he may be able to get me to retirement!

Great read. First book I ever read on Curtis and it's a very interesting one. It's full of inside information that only a person on the inside could provide like the Hendrix book by his brother. Like the Hendrix book, I couldn't put this one down and stayed up late one night to read to the halfway point of the book.

Immediately engaging--the book opens with a cool-as-ice standoff between Mayfield and a crooked music promoter with a gun--and fascinating throughout, this biography of the much-deserving Chicago-turned-Atlanta singer/songwriter is highly informative and entertaining. It's an epic American tale of rags-to-riches-to-tragedy of a gifted artist, set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement. Big kudos to Todd Mayfield for a mostly unflinching look at a great but flawed father, as well as spending a lot of space on Mayfield's Curtom label, which I was mostly unfamiliar with and have been listening to constantly since reading the book.This is the book this great American creative artist deserved. Hopefully his music will reach a much larger audience because of it.

I really didn't listen to much of Curtis Mayfield when I was young until the movie, "Superfly," came out. I went to see it in Boston with my then boyfriend. We were so in love with the music we went right out and bought the album and played it until the grooves wore out. When I saw the Curtis Mayfield biography, I instantly was moved to read it. I remember hearing about how tragically his life changed and wanted to know more about him. I also wanted to know how one creative soul could write so much amazing music and be a source of inspiration to so many musicians and listeners. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. The writer not only tells the story of a man who came from dire poverty, made a tremendous success of himself, but also gives the reader a lesson in the Civil Rights Movement and how so many, especially Curtis Mayfield, with his uplifting lyrics and music, positively affected Martin Luther King's peaceful movement. The last few chapters moved me to tears. They describe how a strong gust of wind changed Curtis' life forever, but never stopped him from making music. Read the book. You won't be disappointed.

I have read many pieces on him, however your book shared such a deep look into everything that made him the very best soul artist, period. All fans of Curtis Mayfield will find his son, Todd's, book indispensable. It is by far the most comprehensive and informative work on the life of Curtis Mayfield that could ever be written. The author(s) also do a wonderful job of embedding Curtis's life story into its broader historical context. The style is loose and very readable. I strongly recommend it!

I loved this book. Todd Mayfield did a wonderful job with Traveling Soul. I have always been in love with the Impression and Jerry Butler. I had no idea that Curtis was such a genius. I finished the last few chapters on a stormy beach with the sky crying with me. Thanks for the journey Todd.

I enjoyed reading about Curtis Mayfield. His hard beginnings to the hard end of his life. His music was great and enjoyed listening to it. His soul traveled hard from beginning to the end

I've read all three books in the series and was impressed with the lack of errors, very good story line and the fact the author did not use up a significant portion of the follow-on books to "catch up" the reader of what transpired in the previous books. However, there was a quirk in the authors writing that was present in books 1 and 2 and by the time I got through with this book I was very irritated. The author seems to have this "fixation" on described a character's emotional response by described how their brow furrowed. Its like he just can't state the character emotional state such as worried, upset, mad, etc. A couple of times O.K., but he seems to use it just too frequently for my taste. That said, the entire series is a very good read and I would recommend it to any SiFi aficionado. To get the most out of this book one really needs to read the first two of the series.

I struggle to find fantasy or sci-fi series that capture my attention after the 1st book. Most take a quick nosedive by the 2nd or 3rd book.However, I love this series! The 1st book was exceptional. The 2nd changed the plot setting entirely. The 3rd kept it going. The best part is that the suspense and gaps in the story are still there. Key pieces continue to flow, but we're left needing more. Who is this invading force? How is it sentient? Who created it? NEED MORE DETAILS!I'm very impressed by this series, and I can't wait to finish the last books. It's an overall fun sci-fi series that includes space, long distance travel, warfare, high tech weapons and other systems, etc.

Despite the not so subtle nods to Star Trek and Aliens, I loved the 1st two books. Predictable story but action packed and with mostly likable characters (sorry Lenora). Book 3 is more of the same (all good) right up to the final encounter with the aliens aboard the alpha ship. Another nod to the "I Robot" movie. The ending was anticlimactic to put it mildly. We learn nothing new about the invading force or their reason for attacking the colony.

An excellent sequel that is essentially part 2 of the Vemus War and sees the New Earth colony threatened by even more Vemus. It will take Connor, his friends and the CDF (Colonial Defence Force) to make huge sacrifices for the greater good of the colonies survival and that of humanity. Legacy was a great addition to the series with lots of tense moments, particularly at the end, and the battles and action were well described. Love the series and the characters - a recommended read for sci-fi fans :)

I am going to agree with many of the negative reviews found here. This book is not bad, but its not great either. Its basically one long battle, which seems cool, but does not bring anything new to the series and feels like an extension of book 2.Fortunatly book 3 seems to be a good change so far so I would still recommend you read this.

The books are good, although not ideally a trilogy probably two books as the first one was an introduction. Book 2 and 3 make up for book 1. The characterisation was a bit one dimensional throughout, the dialogue was stilted throughout. The author has a pretty good idea of what he needs to say in the story but has issues with dialogue between characters. He should consult with another writer about that issue or write stories that are essentially 'narrated'.

Loved the concept. Found most of the characters realistic enough to not interfere with the story. Editing is well done. There is enough action to keep the story moving, but some character building too. I wished the enemy had used more strategy, and i wished there was more explanation of the enemy's thought processes, but the lack of that didn't detract. The book's not meant to be an often re-read classic, it's fun, fast sci-fi/war/space stuff!

FIVE stars for this book. Liked the writing and the characters were developed nicely. They grew up thru the series of three books .The stories had plenty of action and hard fighting. I would recommend this book to all readers of space opera and more. Thanks , waiting for the next book.

This is listed as one of the references for the Construction session of the Civil PE Exam. I was very glad that I purchased and brought this, as there were a couple questions that I was only able to answer by having it with me. As stated on the ASCE website, this standard "provides minimum design load requirements during construction for buildings and other structures. It addresses partially completed structures and temporary structures used during construction."

This is a necessary book. Short and sweet, but definitely required reference material for the Construction Engineer or Civil Engineerl.

I had to buy, nothing wrong.

These general codes are so broadly written in legalize, that the effectively say nothing. Let me save you a bundle: Structures must be designed to withstand any particular load com bination to which they may be subject during construction or otherwise. Engineering judgement comes into play. You don't need a code to tell you that. If you do, try medicine or something else. Waste of money buying these legal documents. They read like legislation - broad motherhood statements. Forget it. Save your money. Try Jack McCormac's texts on structures. You'll be better equipped for the exam.

Good reference to have for the Construction section of the exam.

Only needed is as a reference for the PE. Never used it though but I heard sometimes there are questions on the test that you can only find in here.

I purchased this book for the PE Exam. I think it was an OK reference manual but I don't remember any direct questions that I needed it for.
