Maybe you are not ready for this book.....not judging....obviously if you had this book in your hands suggests you are a seeker. I know there have been books I read that made absolutely no impression on me. But years later I reread and was able to gain much more than originally. We are all at different places along our path and that path is our own experience. For me this book is extremely difficult to read and grasp....but maybe that is the point. Not to use our intellect but allow the language to roll over our minds and flow with it. Personally it is one of the profoundly brilliant and obtuse at the same time! I see this review was left 2001.....may be time to reread.....my humble advice.

Absolutely true to its title, this unparalleled work delivers "the experience of dimensional change." This is an astounding act of intuitive cognition - unlike anything else I've read. While innumerable books have added to my life and to my personal reality, this book literally changed them forever.I picked up my first copy in 2002 at a used book store. From my furiously scribbled notes in all margins - often more wordy than the text! - it's apparent that I wasn't yet ready for it. I got my 2nd copy in 2005, but it has taken 9 full years for me to reach a place where my awareness was prepared to take in this material.The author counsels the reader to be easy on her/himself, to take the material slowly. Trust me, there really isn't any other way to take it! Janet Sussman plays language in completely new ways, like some densely packed fusion of jazz and classical, improvising wildly and bending notes but laying them all deftly out across a firm and building framework.This is easily the most challenging work I've ever encountered. It explodes comprehension and reconstitutes it. Do I claim to understand it all? Emphatically not! Did it reach me on levels that I barely realized existed, answering lifelong questions I hadn't been clear enough to pose? Oh yeah!!If you have followed the work of Jose Arguelles, or the many others who are working so diligently to puzzle out the overarching meaning of the transformation that is affecting our time and reality - what the true impact of 2012 might be on humankind - this book is essential. It communicates on the level of Soul, but requires no complex charts or histories. It is entirely self-referential, spinning concepts both timely and timeless.When you are ready, you will be drawn to this book. When you are drawn, you will fall through it and find yourself in a new experiential world. As we dance, here, at the end of "time as we know it", this book offers us the opportunity to greet Time in its true identity. You'll discover that time is everything and everything is time. You might even discover your true, infinite Self.. and just in time!

Timeshift has as its basic premise an idea similar to the main thought of Secret of the Golden Flower: That we grow not by keeping our attention exclusively on what's in front of us, but by turning our "light" or consciousness around and shining it back at its source. Related also is one of the keys to energy work with the human body, that nothing comes into the physical that does not first appear in finer bodies up the line, and that incipient infirmities can actually be more easily worked with on these more etheric levels.Consciousness goes in a great cycle or loop, according to the author's direct insight, from its source down through the levels into manifestation and then back to reconnect with unmanifest energy. So long as the reconnecting continues, the process stays open and free, and new forms can easily evolve. When, however, consciousness neglects to revisit its source, the forms of the past begin to weigh it down and evolution's options become increasingly restricted.The author brings her information from a point very close to the source, so her descriptions are necessarily abstract-so much so that her prose often gives the reader an experience similar to that of reading poetry. You do not get the point on a simple one-to-one relationship between sentence and thought. Rather, you will get a flash of an image a couple of times on each page. This is enough. I could feel myself growing as I read! An example:"Time causes all matter to move as pearls on a thread arranged in a spiral . . . If you shake the pearls at the center, the two ends will also jiggle."When we understand our interconnectedness, time can open us to its rendering value-the creative influence of time on the unmanifest. Probabilities spread themselves throughout our individual and collective universe. Interactions occur that heretofore we did not think possible. When we are no longer attempting to escape time but climb within it, the vaults open and the possible links between our venturesome spirit and our creative intelligence can come into play."If you can relax the need to "structure" this information flow as you read it, you will actually find yourself with the author, close to the source, and prior to the formation of the hardened mental structures we create and then hold onto for dear life because we have temporarily misplaced our connection with the source.The book has four parts or focuses: the first is the most general, dealing with the dimensions, including space and especially time. Second is a brilliant perspective on the human mind and on psychology. Third, the author goes into the bodies physical and energetic, and finally, a deeply connecting view of the changes the planet itself has initiated.I personally feel that Timeshift is the most important book I have ever read, and I am no longer easily impressed. This book explains how we construct reality and shows us why and how to clear away the rubble from the matrices we call our minds. It also shows us in a very specific way how to then re-open the heart.The Whole has evidently decided to become Its own healer, Its own therapist, and Timeshift is Its first book. All thoughtful and open-minded people will gain immensely from reading it.

what an amazing story. i bought the first volumes just because they were a monthly deal a while back and i was immediately hooked and bought this second volume which i'm almost done with. it is entertaining and really makes you think afterward about things that are entirely real and relevant to the world now. this story actually made me think more about people that live in real war zones where we send troops to "liberate" and "reconstruct".

Good stuff!

The second half, volume 4 of the original 12, is some of the best comic writing ever. the art so beautifully conveys the emotions of the story. Awe inspiring. On par with some of Alan Moores works

Very enjoyable comic series. The story is just as engrossing as the first volume. If you liked the first book definitely give this one a try as well. Even though this series is about a second civil war don't let that stop you from purchasing this. This is very much a character driven story and is a lot more realistic than many war books are. The artwork captures the tone of the story very well and while it took me a little while to get used to the artwork by the second book here I am really starting to appreciate the way it reflects the tone of the gritty streets that the main character survives in.

DMZ is a great series. If you have not read it, you should.

Culp's Structured Finance & Insurance provides a fantastic integration of insurance with the broader world of the financial services industry. Culp is one of the very best authors in this field and his focus on the economic substance of different transactions (e.g., letters of credit and reinsurance contracts) and securities is one of the book's greatest strengths.I have now read this book several times and each time I can say that I have come away with both new thoughts about the financial transactions in question and new insight into the relationships across different finanacial instruments and institutions. Further, I have referred to Culp's text many times in my daily work, especially for its ability to clearly relate each transaction to its economic fundamentals.I found the last section with guest authors to be somewhat uneven in quality, although some of these chapters have proven to be useful in their treatment of such issues as weather derivatives.

I ordered this book for a graduate course I am taking. The book seems really great if you're in the industry. However, I am just getting into the risk management field and for someone like me, it's a little hard to follow this book sometimes without prior finance knowledge. It seems more geared toward CEO's or CFO's. So depending who you are, you will get different things out of it. If you're a professional, you'll probably benefit the most out of it, I would think. Even as a finance student, it's informative; just keep investopedia and a dictionary close by.

This is a very comprehensive textbook on a very interesting subject. Author can be ridiculously long-winded at times but the content is covered in great detail.

This book provides a great details and knowledges about structured finance. If you are interested in the overall depth understanding about this area, this book is a good buy.

It is a good textbook for a course taught at very few places. Decent academic background is provided. The students will be able to use some of the stuff if they get jobs in the field. Overly academic to my taste. Probably appropriate for a textbook.

I was in the mood for a good, wholesome, feel-good love story. Every once in a while Sparks delivers. The last book of his I picked up, "The Longest Ride" was one of those feel goody types so I had high hopes for this one. The first couple chapters of "The Best of Me" were ok...just Ok. After the first few chapters the story quickly went downhill. I personally felt it was confusing the way it introduced new character viewpoints each chapter. Sometimes this can work in the author's favor but in this case we never really got to know any characters in depth.Also, without giving too much away I felt storylines were recycled from other well known novels of his - i.e., parents don't approve of leading lady's boyfriend, fight ensues, couple breaks up, leading lady moves on (but not entirely), long separation & then reunion, mother of leading lady shows up at house to talk some sense into leading lady (but maybe to encourage her to follow her own path)....sounding familiar? *cough*The Notebook*cough*.Semi-Spoiler Alert!!No happy ending here...not even a semi-happy ending where they grow old and die together. The ending to this story was rushed and sadly predictable and left a lot to be desired. "Best of Me" was definitely not Nicholas Sparks best work. I'm surprised by how many 4 and 5 stars it received.

Nicholas Sparks never disappoints. This is a poignant story about chances: random chances, lost chances, and second chances. A story of families, relationships, regrets and redemption. About once-in-a-lifetime, enduring love; lost, found, denied, and eventually recaptured. It's a story of honor, duty, responsibility, purpose, selflessness, and fate. This book will make you fall in love; will break your heart, will make you cry, and just maybe, it might even bring a little smile to your heart at the end. What more could you ask for! This is "the best of" Nicholas sparks!

I like to read a Sparks novel occasionally as a break from more serious literature. They seem like well written romances with good plots and characters. However, the endings have become predictable and never 100% happy. From the beginning of this book, I kept thinking about how it would end and if someone would get killed.Dawson and Amanda had been high school sweethearts even though they came from "opposite sides of the tracks" in Oriental, NC. They split up due to pressures by her parents. She ended up married to a dentist and they had children. Dawson went to prison for four years for accidentally killing the town's doctor when driving a vehicle. Later he worked on offshore rigs in the Gulf.Dawson and Amanda met up again over 20 years later when Tuck a mutual friend and father figure in Oriental died. His will requested that they scatter his ashes at a cottage that had been owned by him and his deceased wife. Two of Dawson's cousins hated him and made multiple attempts on his life.At some point the ending became very predictable and typical of Sparks. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading it. At least up to the predictable ending.

If you ever had a first love that got away, this is the book. It was a real page turner. It brought out a range of emotions, including tears. I really enjoyed this book. I read reviews where people said it was predictable. Maybe so at times, but I say it is a true romantic story. He wrote it with other characters involved in the story, and left us to fill in the details of their lovemaking. He tells a story, not just focusing on jumping in and out of bed. I found this very refreshing. I've read 2 more books by him since this read. I've found an author who actually tells a story.At first I thought I knew how the ending would be, but boy was I wrong. A funeral brings two high school lovers back together, but only for a short time. An old man's last wishes, a bar fight, car accident, and a one in a million chance of getting a transplant will keep you reading this book untill the very end.I'm not a big romance novel fan, but I tend to find myself enjoying Nicholas Sparks books anyway. I love how his stories are really well developed and thought-provoking, rather than just revolving around the physical aspects of love as many other romance novels do. "The Best of Me" had to be one of Nicholas Sparks' best novels yet. Yes, the basic theme is one that's been done over and over again - two high school sweethearts having to let go because real life interferes, and then running into each other again years later. But this story is so much more than that. You find yourself really sympathizing with the characters and understanding how difficult their situations are. Nicholas Sparks captures and holds your attention until the very end in this book, and this story is one that I'm sure will stick with me for a long time.The Best of Me follows the struggles of Amanda as she must decide between her imperfect family and her first love, Dawson. Her decision is heart-wrenching, and the events that ensue will inevitably bring tears to your eyes. Amanda discovers what really matters in life, and Dawson is able to truly give the best of himself to Amanda in a shocking manner.In true Nicholas Sparks fashion, The Best of Me is simultaneously heart-warming, melancholy, and suspenseful. How Dawson gives life to Amanda is sure to change your view on what is important to you.

It was corny and unrealistic. His books have gone from romantic to nauseating over the years and this is no exception. Amanda is childish. So she has problems in her marriage, who doesn't? So as soon as she sees her first love runs into his arms. And Dawson, never dated, had sex ever again because he never got over Amanda. Seriously?! Finished it because I did purchase it but oh no. What a waste!!!
