This is an amazing book. I've read Hypnobirthing, Orgasmic Birth, the Bradley Method, Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and a million blogs. I get sucked in :)This book was by far my favorite.Why? More than any of the others, it recognizes that there isn't ONE right/perfect way. So many natural birth advocates are so exclusive and cliquey and mom-judgers : like if you don't birth at home or in a birth center with 0 interventions, you're a weaker mother and already failing your baby. Opinions like this make me mad because they're just not true.Suzy's book is so empowering because she says that NO body ever fails at birth. We are all incredible. It's about being informed and prepared and practicing openness to whatever experience arises for us. Letting go of fear. A good lesson for LIFE too.

When pregnant with my first I looked into hypnobirthing and tried Hypnobabies. When I was pregnant with my second I found I wanted to check out other hypnobirthing resources. I loved this book because it was an easy, quick read. The book really helped me have a pleasant unmedicated birth.

Loved this! Great book. Well read too, the author has such a calming voice. Very reassuring and empowering. I listened to it maybe 4 times before I had my baby. I recommended to several friends and ultimately enjoyed the labor process. I was open minded to whatever journey baby and body lead me on. That is the message of the book. To create a mindset where you are not afraid. You got this, you can do it, no matter where your birth story goes. However, things went really well and I was able to go all natural. This book teaches you to listen to your body, your body was made to do this. Itâ€™s not too granola, itâ€™s science based- relaxing your mind relaxes your body. It teaches you methods and reassures you repeatedly. You got this! You have to be relaxed so the baby can descend. Overall an amazing book that helped me overcome my fears of labor. My husband and I now have a great memory, which was the goal. I didnâ€™t want a memory of pain or complications. Cant say enough about this book. Thank you Suzy!!

I grabbed this book at 39 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby. I wish I had this earlier! I had read the Hypnobirthing book with my last baby so I was already familiar with the points in this book. But it was a great refresher. It would make a great starting book for someone wanting to get started with hypnobirthing. Overall great book and I have been recommending it to my pregnant friends.

I bought this book a few weeks before I was due, and it really helped me learn the benefits and importance of staying calm and optimistic about childbirth and through the birthing process. The breathing techniques and other tips are great! While I wouldnâ€™t say Iâ€™m a hypnobirthing pro after labor, I would def. say this book is well worth it for anyone looking to have the best birthing experience possible. Iâ€™m REALLY glad I read it and like being a part of the online FB community.

Disappointed. The only thing of value in this entire book was a breathing technique of slow controlled breathing in and out and breathing the baby down. Nothing else worth noting.

This really helped me to have the right perspective heading into giving birth to my first child. I would recommend this as a must read to anyone no matter what type of delivery they are planning.

These complete, well written and excellently coded frameworks are available under the GPL and an alternate, low-cost license for those who wish to keep their code private.For strong C programmers, the implementation of the frameworks is a delight as one reads through the code and is treated to an incredibly simple, lightweight and extremely powerful system that will forever put an end to your future plans to "superloop" again--albeit for any system where C (or C++) is adequately supported by the hardware. For anyone admitting that "we've always done superloop and it has always worked in the past," get ready for a real-time, highly responsive system that actually IS event driven and thrives in as little as a few bytes of RAM and perhaps a K of ROM.For those who must hold on to the "superloop is king" mindset, consider the consequences of adding to your superloop an entirely new set of features and how that may affect the timing through your loop. I started with the "dining philosophers" example code discussed in the book and ported it to my own board (using a Renesas H8S-2166 microcontroller) and augmented the code to be responsive to external events (mechanical switches). This required software debouncing. While my "example" was somewhat "trivial" in terms of what the functionality actually did, it is, in my opinion, extremely typical of changing requirements of both new and legacy code in the day-to-day evolution of embedded systems programming.My changes to the example code were to implement a "bike light" feature set. That is, whenever a switched was pressed, the bike light--if off--would illuminate. An LED on the board was used for this purpose. Pressed again, the light would blink. Pressed and held for 1 second while on or blinking, the light would turn off.The typical implementation in superloop would often require a considerate approach to ensure that the new functionality was "injected" into the "right" part of the loop, so as to be of minimal impact to other areas of critical timing code. If any kind of action within the new code delayed the loop processing, then the whole of the superloop could come under further scrutiny and therefore cause more pain as one trials and tests system responsiveness on a number of potential new fronts.Atop of this new functionality, the frameworks-provided QSpy code instrumentation system, which allows one to have a stream of information about the system states and transitions, was ported to use a UART on the H8S. Imagine adding all of this new functionality in a traditional superloop body of code. Now, imagine adding it in a matter of perhaps two hours using the frameworks AND not adversely impacting the "legacy" application code at all!One of the most beautiful aspects of these frameworks is the ability to focus strictly on the code necessary for the task at hand instead of the entire system as a whole. The frameworks substantially frees the programmer from having to manually manage system responsiveness typical of the superloop.Using UML to design and document an embedded system is relatively new to many embedded systems programmers. Miro also provides a free download stencil set for MS Visio for easily implementing statecharts, which should help those interested in pursuing the many benefits of the technology included in this book.I first met Miro at a developer's conference in San Diego, CA. One thing that comes out in his book and his discussions of this exciting technology is his passion for it. I was very interested in it, as he was displaying his software running on a very resource constrained microcontroller--all in about 40 bytes of RAM or a bit less.Drawn to his topic by his enthusiasm, I admired the frameworks even more as I began looking at the implementation and design of the code. The entire C bundle, with royalty-free 'private commerical use' license, one of either cooperative or preemptive schedulers (both are provided), event processor, code instrumentation support and more is all for under $2K. Of course, one may explore the entire frameworks for the cost of only a free download before ever making a licensing decision for a given product.Combined with the low-cost solution of using such powerful frameworks in conjunction with learning the valuable content of this book, teams everywhere can exploit the years of experience and very robust, capable code in a matter of hours instead of weeks, months and even years of doing things the "old school" way using superloops and other facilities instead of truly event-driven designs.This book and the free QF download are your entry into the 21st century of embedded systems programming. Because the code is provided in C, porting is rather easy and running on embedded systems and desktop systems is practical and easy. I was able to build and run the code as provided without modifications on my Linux, Mac and Windows systems and on the H8S and a Microchip PIC 24 with only a minimalist porting effort of about a half a day in each case. Imagine being able to run an entire real-time system that features excellent extensibility while freeing you from the rigors of managing superloop timing on your own hardware all within a few hours. Then, spend a couple of hours extending the system without impacting the rest of it? Lather, rinse, repeat...it is truly that simple and robust.Best of all, this book will open your eyes to modern methods and concepts for programming event-driven embedded systems. That is, systems that respond to internal and external events that naturally occur in all embedded systems designs. It is my firm belief that after reading this book and exploring the code on your own, you'll discover why I so heartily endorse it and now share the passion Miro has for this wonderful, very lightweight but robust, complete solution for modern embedded systems programming.

It is rare to find an author who is so strong theoretically, while paying such close attention to implementation details like microcontroller resource conservation. The Nano product, for example, shows he has his eye on the low end 8 bit embedded world, not just the Gigahertz microcontrollers used in smart phones and the like.I've tried all the ways to make state machines in C and assembler, and I have to say the function pointer method is by far the best. He spent lots of time on the underpinnings of both flat and hierarchical state machines, and went through the process of implementing simple state machines using the various methods that have been tried before. At the end, not only do you feel comfortable with complex state machines, but you can really understand WHY the way taught in the book is the best way. One it "clicks", you will never go back again. I'm completely sold.If that weren't enough, he adds a real-time framework to the state machine skeleton which includes a task scheduler, an event queue, and a built-in method to encapsulate the various state machines into active objects. This way, you can run concurrent orthogonal and nested state machines without getting lost in the details. It's all so well organized, I feel like I've been a hack programmer up until now.I do have a quibble though. It's not the product - it's the book. It's already getting a bit out of date. The book doesn't cover QM - the modeling tool - at all. It also doesn't cover QT integration, which is a great method of building your virtual prototype on your desktop before committing it to your target. If you want an end-to-end development environment, QM and QT are golden. QT is an outstanding C/C++ development environment in its own right, and the GUI features seal the deal.Finally, I hope the next version (which I will almost certainly buy) comes out on Kindle - to save some trees.

I am impressed, the book handles a difficult topic very well. BTW, this is my first 5-star rating, ever. One gets both a high-level picture, as well as detailed examples. What I especially appreciate is that the author anticipates my questions and covers them well. I am actually an application (.NET/GUI), not embedded, developer; yet this is by far the best source on state-machines and event-driven programming I have found. I did notice few typos, but they did not cause much confusion.

This is an excellent book describing the statecharts approach to state machine programming. My only complaint is that I wish more practical examples were discussed, top-to-bottom including their implementation on a number of target platforms, and slightly less attention paid to the theory. Other than that wish, this is still an excellent way to start coding state machines using UML statecharts.

In the last few years Abu Dhabi started to gain popularity as a tourist destination. I remember the first time I heard of that place. It was few years ago when I read a magazine article about Roger Federer, famous tennis player, and I was surprised to learn that he spends few months at Abu Dhabi every year. At that time I did get a sense that mostly rich and famous visit Abu Dhabi and, therefore, lost interest. Recently, a couple of blogs about travel and tourism that I follow, published first hand accounts of normal tourists visiting Abu Dhabi and having pretty good time. I decided to do a bit more research and 'The Abu Dhabi Travel Guide' by Rahim and Zohara Hirji was on top of Amazon search results.This is an extremely detailed book that has great coverage of any topic a potential tourist needs to know about Abu Dhabi.Topics covered:1. Brief History of Abu Dhabi in particular and United Arab Emirates (UAE) in general.2. Hotels. While Abu Dhabi is still a destination for high-flyers, and five star hotels are seemingly on every corner, it is still possible to find budget yet comfortable accommodations.3. Sightseeing and things to do. I was staggered to learn how much one can do there. Parks, museums, beaches, camel races, hot air balloons, etc. I was even surprised to learn that Abu Dhabi has a track for Formula One races.4. Do's and Don'ts, Social Etiquette. Important chapter for any tourist visiting Abu Dhabi. Respect for local sensibilities, according to the authors, is a must.5. List of basic Arabic phrases and much, much more.Overall this is a good, very detailed tourist guide on all things Abu Dhabi. I was impressed with authors' commitment to quality, demonstrated by the fact that even included their contact information in case any reader has follow-up questions or comments.Recommended.

I will be traveling to Abu Dhabi for business at the end of this fall so I have been reading numerous guides in order to prepare. This one is the best! It is packed with information that ranges from the best ways to get around, the customs on tipping, social norms and how you should behave even as a tourist and much, much, more. Not knowing what to expect this book has put my mind at ease as it is clear the author is very knowledgeable on the topic, and provides small details that go overlooked in other books. For example the guide tells that crossing your legs is a sign or rudeness, I would never have known! What great tips! I also found the section on working days and hours very interesting, as well as the part about long handshakes, moving seats as according to status and the fact that business moves very slowly. Not only was this book very helpful, it was very easy and entertaining to read, I highly recommend it!

Having lived in the UAE for some time, I was skeptical about the value of this book. But as I haven't spent too much time in Abu Dhabi and hope to visit more in the future, I figured it was worth the shot at the low price. I more than got my money's worth.The book is conveniently structured in typical travel guide style, but with a readability not always found in books of this genre. It nicely highlights the hotels, restaurants, sightseeing spots and experiences not to be missed when visiting Abu Dhabi. I most appreciated the "uture Abu Dhabi" section, highlighting the typically grandiose plans for the city, as well as the surprisingly comprehensive list of "excursions away from Abu Dhabi city". I also appreciated the many links to websites throughout the book.As with any guidebook about a region one is familiar with, I was quick to note a few inaccuracies (i.e. it never officially goes about 50 degrees, not 40, as the book suggests) and omissions (i.e. the recommended visit to Buraimi does not note the recent changes at the border, which could result in a traveler being stranded in Oman!). And in a quickly changing city like Abu Dhabi, there will always be new developments not mentioned in the book (although the "future Abu Dhabi" section tries to cover some of those). But one will find these issues in any travel guide, and the advantage of the e-book format is that the author will hopefully add updates and corrections to the book to keep it more relevant than any hard copy guidebook.Overall, I would definitely recommend this book for any visitor to Abu Dhabi, as well as any expat looking to discover new delights in the UAE.

An excellent guide to Abu Dhabi, written by authors with extensive local knowledge. The must-see tourist areas are well covered, but there is a lot of local info that will come in very handy. If you're headed to the UAE for your first trip or your fortieth, you'll find this comprehensive guide packed with useful information- from where to go and what to see, to what not to do- this is the best Abu Dhabi guide available.

Bought this book a few days before flying in to the UAE and read most of it in the plane - it's lucky I stumbled on it! I have to say that this is a comprehensive book and it helped a lot on recommendations for hotels, restaurants and downtime. And I was the go to guy for the best places. Not one of the places that were recommended were bad! And all of the places existed, which I sometime have a problem with.Drawbacks:1) The only drawback is that the map you have to download and check out beforehand, but that's not an issue as places are accurately described based on location and if you are there on holiday or for a week, you'll just be taking taxis and things are so close. And if you are an expat, you'll pretty much figure out the grid of the city.2) There are no pictures, but that makes it a small file size on my iPhone.3) I was the goto guy for where to go and booking because my colleagues all came to me!The book was otherwise very helpful. BTW, If you haven't been to Abu Dhabi, the place is happening right now!No brainer at the price. It was like I had a best friend telling me where to go!

A dear friend was recently diagnosed with Parkinsons. He found this book highly useful. Reading about how many folks function day-to-day with this disease encouraged him. I wish this book had been around when my brother was first diagnosed. During the early years post diagnosis, he was very depressed and thought life was over. This book would've shown him what has taken him years to discover on his own -- there is hope and how to manage his life daily in spite of the disease.

This book has given me great insight in caring for my 71-yr-old sister who has Parkinsonâ€™s.

I ordered this to give to a friend whose husband had been diagnosed with Parkinson's. I was looking for a book that would explain in non-medical jargon what to expect as the disease progressed. They have both read the book and found in very helpful. It is not written by a doctor. It is written by a lawyer who has Parkinson's so it has the human touch rather than the medical. I highly recommend this for anyone who has recently been diagnosed.

I am a physician who cares for patients with another chronic disease. I wrote a book for them and their families, and when I was diagnosed with Parkinson's, I wanted to get my hands on a similar bilk, but for PD patients, something like: Parkinsonâ€™s Disease: A Guide for Patient and Family. I was disappointed that my neurologist couldnâ€™t/didnâ€™t point me to anything other than the Michael J Fox Foundation website. It was there that I saw reference to Mr Vine's book. It looked promising, so I got it, and boy was I right!I have found this book it to be everything I was looking for.I commend the author for his lucid writing style, the depth and breadth of his knowledge, his ease with talking (well, writing) to patients in a way that is straightforward and optimistic, without being unrealistic. And, I thank him (thank you! thank you!) for writing this wonderful book.

This guide really is "indispensable." Authored by a Parkinson's patient, it is informative and inspiring. The use of interviews with Parkinson's patients and their partners throughout made all the subject matter all that more accessible and absorbable. Thank you John Vine.

I loved the extra behind the scenes from Murphyâ€™s perspective and truly fell for him. You also get some background on why Murphy is so closed from having a relationship.Riley is a college student who grew up on a horse farm where she still rides and lives at. She doesnâ€™t know what she wants to do with her finance degree, except she wants to keep the family farm. Little does she know not everything is as it seems at the farm. She finds out what's going on and at first doesnâ€™t know how to deal with it, but getting to know Murphy helps her understand a little more.I fell in love with Murphy and Riley. They had a slow steady burning love. I could put myself in Rileyâ€™s shoes and understood how she felt about love and fearful she was of getting hurt. They had electric chemistry and I admit I reread the cell phone call scene more than a few times. Riley is my girl and I think L Wilder wrote her perfectly.I do recommend this book and I also highly recommend you reading Riggs as well before. To be honest I recommend all her books. Even though I knew what the cover looked like, all I could picture was Charlie Hunnam from SOA.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author. First let me say Murphy is a FANTASTIC addition to an already amazing series! This book has everything you expect in a Satan's Fury book and more! The chemistry between Murphy and Riley is EXPLOSIVE! As always L. Wilder gives us the reader a fantastic story that flows effortlessly from one scene to the next. The secondary characters take nothing away from the book. Truly one of the BEST MC series out there.

Oh I love this series... Lesley can write MC books that just hook you into the characters and keep you wanting more in the next book. Oh and Murphy and Riley what a ride these two have. What an up and down struggle they go through to finally get together. Amazing story... Loved it and can't wait for more.

I was hooked from the start. I couldn't put this book down. Riley and Murphy's relationship was intense from the start. They are perfect for each other. Was on the edge of my seat threw the whole book. Can't wait to read more.

Murphy is complex and yet had such a heart. He has no idea how much love he has to give until he meets Riley. She's the key to unlocking his heart and spirit in so many ways. Of all the brothers, this is now one of my favorites. The story is engaging and it sucks you in until you are there as a part of the whole thing. Well done, L. Wilder!

I love these books and will never get enough of them! ðŸ˜ the characters are just sexy, gruff, sassy, and pull you into their world. I loved Murphy and Riley. She is so sassy and feisty, a perfect fit for the man who is always prepared for any scenario, except her! I can't wait to read about who is next in the series.

Satan's fury is one of favorite MC'S. Leslie does amazing writing for her characters and it's never the same thing. They are all so different. Loved it. Can't wait for the next

Ummm this girl got her MC on during this read... HOLY HOTNESS. Murphy, Murphy, Murphy (drool) you are the perfect bad boy with an extra helping of heart and sexy. Yeah you brought me back into Satanâ€™s Fury MC world. Your backstory and the women who broke your heart and created your disbelief in love ticked me off. Ugh momma bear wanted to kick their butts. Eek.Rileyâ€™s story touched me. As some who has lost a parent when I was young to cancer, well I experienced a few emotional moments. Her country girl life brought an intriguing and heartwarming element to this telling.Yes this read has a beautiful love story feel that you donâ€™t often expect in an MC book. Plan for the some spice cause who are we kidding, this author never fails in that department (wink, blush). Oh you can expect to get punched in the face with anticipation when some OMG moments happen. Love this book and all I can say is Ms Wilder did not disappoint. Happy Reading.

I love Eyewitness Guides and have been using them for years. The only reason I gave it four stars is that the pages are shiny and create a glare that makes it difficult to see under certain lights. Also, there's a lot of information packed in these books so the print is pretty small.

The guide was helpful once I arrived in Malta but less so for planning purposes. I would have liked more practical information like about tipping or that the bus system is great but never in time. The size of the book was perfect. I could always carry it with me.

This is a very nice little book that features the things that you'll want to see the first time around and also provides a couple of nice maps that you can take out and slip into your pocket. It goes into enough detail so that you have some idea what you're looking at, but not so much detail that you end up with a guidebook that makes you list to one side when you carry it in your bag. Everything was accurate and I found it a great help.

I like that it highlights key sights and other destinations from more mundane ones.

This book was easy to use, I referred to the pull out map frequently which was small enough to slip into my purse.

ok but would have been more useful as a combined book with some other nearby islands
