I used the Rigos series of UBE reviewers exclusively for the New York UBE and passed it. The materials are comprehensive, easy-to-read, and includes a "meta" guide on how to use their reviewers, how to manage your review time, and other useful pointers. I was worried about not "buying enough" into the whole bar review game with all the fancy lectures and apps, but I'm glad I did not spend a penny more. It all boils down to managing one's time, using the materials that you have effectively, and mastering the very core of the UBE which is in just a series of LONG but simple, brightline rules.

This text is amazing. Seriously... My stress level went from 9 to 5 after reviewing the family law section and nailed every issue on my essay exam. (Yes, that's a big deal for me as more stress = less retention of info). It's not time for me to start my full on bar prep course, but I wanted something to refresh my memory while I wait. I've lost so much of the details over the past 3 years from 1L and 2L courses like Torts, Contracts, Con Law, etc.. Rigos very nicely condenses the info, doesn't use overly long explanations, but still provides enough context that flashcards can not. This doesn't overload your brain like BarBri's materials which I've tried before... I paid $250+ for BarBri 1 and 2L online review texts & lectures. BarBri appears more concerned about not allowing you to copy or print anything out, because you can only view one very poorly formatted page a time (as opposed to an easy to navigate scrolling format). Searching and using the index is a joke. I spent more time searching for the content I needed than actually studying.With Rigos, the indexes and magic memory outlines are fantastic - run through the memory outline and if you can't recall the info, easily flip to that section and give yourself a reminder. Use the acronyms they provide if needed, but those are totally optional and not distracting. Then take a few essay exam questions and use the example answers to find out if you hit all the issues or not. (Full disclosure - some people LOVE the long explanations and greater context that BarBri provides - I'm just not one of those people.) I'm absolutely buying the MBE Volumes as well, now that I see how well Rigos works for me..

First, in the CivPro section, one of the answers states that a plaintiff can maintain a diversity suit because the damages was â€œat leastâ€ 75,000. Every law student and lawyer knows that it must â€œexceedâ€ 75,000. Even the FRCP uses â€œexceedsâ€.Second, the statements of law for ConLaw are partial and not complete. For instance, the intermediate standard of review requires the law be substantially related to an important governmental interest and the rational basis review requires the law be rationally related to a legitimate interest. The book omits substantially related and rationally related.Third, if an MEE subject is also an MBE subject, then that outline is not in this book. You have to buy the MBE volumes 1 and 2 for those subjects. This was not mentioned on the amazon page.Update:Review of the Family Law outline has revealed more inaccurate statements of the law:The book states that a valid premarital agreement is:"...full disclosure of all the spouses' assets and liabilities, reasonable opportunity for both parties to seek independent counsel, and the parties must be acting in good faith without fraud or coercion."While some of this is correct, it is worded incorrectly, used out of context, uses words not used in the official model answer, and is still missing important elements. From the NCBE:"...such agreements are enforceable unless procured by fraud, duress, or coercion. A premarital agreement must be in writing and signed by both parties. A premarital agreement is not enforceable if the spouse whom enforcement is sought proves that (a) the agreement was made involuntarily, OR (b) it was unconscionable when executed and before execution the spouse was (i) not provided fair disclosure of financial information, (ii) did not waive disclosure, and (iii) did not have knowledge of such information. Elements that courts will look to for voluntariness is (1) presence of independent legal counsel, (2) length of the time between the date of the agreement and the wedding, (3) the party's abilities to understand the agreement, and (4) other reasons"While much longer, this statement is accurate and complete. The statement from the Rigos book lacks voluntariness, which was tested on the Feb 2016 MEE. So, you would have gotten the wrong answer if you had followed the Rigos statement. The Rigos statement lacks unconscionable, waiver, and the fact that independent counsel is part of voluntariness. Also, a premarital agreement does not require "full" disclosure nor does it require "good faith".

I previously sat and passed the Bar exam in a non-UBE state. However, I wanted to practice in another Jx so I prepared for, and passed the July 2016 UBE exam with a 288.To prepare: I used my commercial bar review course books from my first Bar exam study, along with this Rigos book, its MPT book, the Critical-Pass Flash Cards and the Strategy and Tactics for the MBE 5th Ed. (All of which I would recommend)The Rigos MEE book provides a concise and easy to understand nutshell summary of the MEE topics along with practice essays and answers. I highly recommend this as a SUPPLEMENT for a student who already has a base knowledge of the MEE and MBE materials. I would caution against using this book as a primary book due to its abridged nature (yes 566 pages is abridged in the realm of Bar studying).

Used this book to prepare for the July 2017 MBE after 2 previous attempts. I found this to be very helpful. I got quite a few nuggets. There are at least 200 skills building and practice questions for each subject (232 for Contracts) with varying degrees of difficulty. Quite a few have very long fact patterns (especially Civ Pro), but they build concentration stamina. There were a few questions which were very similar to the questions I encountered on the 2017 Exam. Rigos' material comes in Volume 1 and 2; please take note. My scored 146, an increase of 14 points from the February exam, and 13 points from the July 2016 exam. I also used Strategies and Tactics by Emanuel, and I found it to be good. I had also used this book for the February exam.

Very user friendly and easy to follow. Clear and understandable directions. I would however NOT recommend this book if you are using Excel 2010. I was told by instructors that I could use the 2010 Excel with this for the course. I tried and it was too far off...had to download a trial of Office 2013 to get through the class. Also, this book is geared towards using with Windows 8. I use Windows 7 and got tired of the book continually referencing "touch" and "swipe" on top of "click"....I am giving this 3 stars for this reason. Otherwise, the book was a good tool for learning either online or on your own. My one tip with this book would be "read every little line carefully". There is a lot of information crammed in to a small book. This book is used for Excel I, II and III.It gets more difficult and harder to follow near the end of the book. I plan on keeping this book to use for a reference even after I finish the courses. I just wish the author had made one book for use with Windows 7 and one for use with Windows 8 and did away with trying to cram them both in one book.

Product was as described. The information within makes learning Excel very easy. I'm using it for a class in the fall so it should go smoothly with such a fine book. Packaging was top-notch, with it being done meticulously. Even though the package was crushed on one corner (USPS fault), the packaging from the seller protected the product. Would buy again from this seller.

I'm sure this would be a great book if there was ANY way to get the example/study files. I have been trying for a LONG time, and there is no way to get these files without being a part of a class. This is terrible for someone who is trying to learn a new skill on their own,.

Book should at least start from the beginning, in other words starting a excel sheet from scratch. They do not explain in this area, they want you to download the files and work with it.

It looks as new and it arrived on time, I have no complaints.

only use the excel portion, great explanations and and great practice problems

This story is such a difficult one to read. To view Alton's account of his life and how He and his family suffered because of broken relationships, abuse and dreadfully inadequate resources is painful. Also to know there are many others like him all around us who have not found a way out of these cruel circumstances is a wake up call to our society to invest more time and loving action on behalf of these kids. Yet Alton shares his story honestly and is such an inspiring example of overcoming all these huge obstacles to go on to become a wonderful ,positive contributing blessing to others. This is a great motivational story no matter what our life work is everyone can benefit from reading this book.

Buy this book!! Alton Carter is a phenomenal guy, and you will love him after reading this book. I am the same age and I grew up in the same town he wrote about. Alton is as genuine in person as he is in his book. Overcoming adversity is something we all face at one time or another, but Alton does this with more courage than anyone I know. Alton will inspire you to make a positive difference in a child's life, just as caring adults have made in his.This is a must read!

This author told his story so well. You can't help but to read this book in one sitting. If you have ever wondered what it is like to be a child in the "system" and have asked the question "How did that child get there" this is the book you need to read! His 2nd book, Aging Out, is another must read if you want to know the story of these kids! His story is one of many!

I'm glad I read this book (on my Kindle). It was autobiographical, and Carter is not the best writer, but his experience came through and I felt his pain and struggle. I'm thrilled he wrote his story and is working with youth to make things better. No kid should suffer in a place that is supposed to help him or her.

A must read for every adult that impacts the lives of young people. Walking in Alton's footsteps will invoke reflection, repentance and resolution.

Not an easy read but certainly a story that needs to be told. A sad story with a happy ending that could make a difference in lives of others.

This man and his story are one of the most inspirational and amazing things Iâ€™ve experienced so far while working with children in the mental health field. Iâ€™ve actually given my copy away to a young client and plan to order another one!!!

It was a very good book to read and learn how blessed we are and understand why these kids grow up and think the way they do. It is very sad to know they grow up in these conditions and think it is the way of life. I am sharing this book with my grandkids so they will see how fortunate and blessed they are and maybe some day, with God's help, they can give one of these kids an ounce of hope and love to keep on going like Alton. May we all have that opportunity!

This book is the fifth of five (so far) from the Osprey's Men-At-Arms Series on "German Army". The other four are:- MAA 311 The German Army 1939-45 (1) Blitzkrieg; MAA 316 The German Army 1939-45 (2) North Africa & Balkans; MAA 326 The German Army 1939-45 (3) Eastern Front 1941-43; MAA 330 The German Army 1939-45 (4) Eastern Front 1943-45.These books basically cover the German Army uniform and rank insignia of specific time and place during WW2. Each book includes 30 to 40 b/w photographs of German soldiers in different types of uniform. There are also 8 pages of colour-plates in each book depicting the uniforms in colour. Since I own all five books, I observed that the drawing skill of Stephen Andrew improving gradually over the years.These books are by no means a comprehensive account of the uniform of the German Army during WW2. However, the contents (text, photos and colour-plates) are excellent source of reference materials for modelling enthusiasts focusing on WW2 German Army.This review applies to all five books.

Very good book, goes into the basics then explains deeper matters, excellent drawings. The illustrator is the best illustrator out of all the osprey books

Osprey books are a great place for anyone who is interested in a specific military history subject. The book is a concise history of the organization and use of German infantry on the Western Front. The full color drawings are an excellent resource for modellers, collectors and general enthusiastists. There are plenty of black and white photos to complement the text. The book focuses on the finer details of the average German soldiers life. Even though I've read the book, I refer to it frequently and still love looking at the drawings.

I was about to give up on reading new (to me) authors on Amazon but decided to try one more andâ€¦ BINGO! I found this great book. I loved it.Tudor England 1537. The country is in the middle of big religious and political changes. King Henry VIII is looking for the new ways of closing up monasteries and getting a hold of their treasures. It is during this turmoil when the main protagonist, a hunchback lawyer, Matthew Shardlake, is sent as a kingâ€™s representative to investigate a murder committed in the remote monastery. Exciting mystery plot follows.I got totally engrossed in this book. The author has a magic way with words. The description of marshes surrounding monastery or imported parrots and many, many others as well as all psychologically rich characters were superb. I could easily visualize all of them and they all stayed imprinted in my mind for a long time.The book is very atmospheric. Although set in a different time period and in a different country ( England 1537 versus Italy 1327) the general atmosphere is a little reminiscent of â€œThe Name of the Roseâ€ ( The Name of the Rose ). But it is a much lighter read.Those who liked Philippa Gregory series about Tudor England ( The Other Boleyn Girl (The Plantagenet and Tudor Novels Book 1) ) will find many familiar big historical figures (including Anne Boleyn and Cromwell) but they are present only in the background of the current story.I highly recommend this book to all fans of historical mysteries and especially to those who are hungry for the big chunks of real events and period details mixed with the plot. P.S. At the beginning it may be a little difficult to keep track of all the monks. They are all listed at the very first pages of the book which may help a little. But even without reading the list the important ones soon become easily recognizable, so just keep reading.

This is the first in a series of mysteries featuring Matthew Shardlake. It is the only one I have read and I plan to read at least one more. If it is as interesting and well-written as this one, I may become an addict! Matthew Shardlake is a hunchback, a condition that has engendered in him great anger and great compassion, resentment, self-reliance, sadness,and a touching vulnerability.Shardlake is also a headstrong Reformer who, at the beginning of the book, is starting to tire of the extreme actions taken by Thomas Cromwell, but remains committed to the cause. His internal journey as the novel progresses is at least as fascinating as the plot of the novel.Surrounding Shardlake is a host of other interesting characters - his ward, Mark, Alice, an assistant in the infirmary, and an array of monks at the monastery where a murder has taken place. The monastery, Scarnsea, is surrounded by fetid, dangerous marshes and surrounds an equally dangerous cesspool of corruption, sexual misconduct, ugly secrets, and a deep fear and resentment of the Reformation. Shardlake is mystified and takes the reader on a complicated journey to the surprising truth. Take the journey with him, you'll enjoy it!

As a fan of good ( and sometimes not so good... ) historical fiction for probably 55 years or so, this ranks up with the best I have read. The characters were rich and extremely well thought out, the scenarios well written and described and the history thoughtfully researched and presented in regard to the story line. I really recommend this book as highly as possible to anyone either interested in fiction set in sixteenth century England or just in search of an interesting mystery. My only complaint is nothing to do with the book, rather with the pricing . Over fourty dollars for an ebook series is way out of my budget and so I shall not be able to read the rest unless they are offered for free at some time.

Dissolution is a murder mystery set in a monastery at the time of theâ€”you guessed itâ€”Dissolution. The reluctant investigator, a hunchbacked minion of Thomas Cromwell, is sent to discover the fate of an earlier commissioner, and he is instructed to do it fast before the king catches wind of the whole tawdry episode. Heâ€™s not happy about his assignment, the monks are not happy to entertain him, his assistant is not happy about the ethics involved; itâ€™s just not a happy book. Written in first person, Matthew Shardlake tells us he is in constant pain, which interferes with his powers of concentration; he develops a schoolboy crush on the only female servant at the monastery and of course she rejects him; he comes face-to-face with the truth of Cromwellâ€™s manipulations but clings stubbornly to his Protestant faith. Naturally, everyone had a secret agenda and there were too many suspects. There were a few scenes where I felt that the author finally hit his stride, but for the most part I found the book plodded along. Discovering the murderer was almost an anticlimax for me and I was happy to get to the end. I will say the prose was easy to follow and I didnâ€™t have any trouble finishing the story. It made for good bedtime reading.
