Solidity Programming Essentials: A beginner's guide to build smart contracts for Ethereum and blockchainWhat I liked the most about this book was that it went into depth on the language of solidity and all of the programming constructs and terminology.What I did not like about this book is that it did not really cover much with deployment, no mention of Parity or the Kovan test network, how to even use the solidity-compiler (solc).I mean they even have solc in the table of contents and then they just tell you how to install it using node haha. They do not tell you how you would use it e.g. if you want to compile a contract you use the two commands:1. solc --abi sourceFile.sol // get the contract json abi payload2. solc --bin sourceFile.sol // get the contract binary hex payloadNor is there a mention of any front end stuff. e.g. invoking a contract from a dapp.The bought the book to learn more about the solidity language, which it looks to be good at. So it is good for that. Anything else (deploying, front end) is out of scope.
I have read multiple books on Blockchain and some of them touch the topic on Solidity fleetingly by providing a small chapter on it. This is the first book I have come across that is completely dedicated to Solidity as a programming language. I liked the way the book is organized and progresses ensuring that readers get accustomed to almost every important concept on Solidity. There are a ton of examples in this books which shows how you can utilize it in many different scenarios. Very hands-on approach for learning this important programming language on Blockchain and Ethereum. Just loving it!
